Wave spectrum file

An input file containing the components to a Wave spectrum can be imported into Ashes. This is useful when you want to define your own deterministic irregular wave elevation (as opposed to defining an irregular wave elevation by specifying the significant wave height and the spectral peak period, see Irregular waves).

The wave spectrum file contans the keyword Irregular waves components, followed by a table that defines each of the wave components that compose the spectrum. Each component is defined by four values:
  • the period in seconds
  • the wave height in meters
  • the phase angle in degrees
  • the direction with respect to North in degrees
