A stepwise wind is a wind which direction and / or angle will change at a given time. These can be defined by parameters as shown in the Stepwise wind part or imported from a file. Importing and exporting files can be done using the corresponding icons, marked in red in the following picture:

The input file for a stepwise wind is composed of three columns: time, wind speed and wind angle. Comments can be written above the columns using the '#' symbol. The image below illustrates the format:

To get an example of a Stepwise wind input file , it is recommended to export the default stepwise wind.

The equations that define the stepwise wind are given in the Theory manual , in the Stepwise Wind section. The definition of the wind angle can be found in the Theory manual as well, in the Wind angle section.

Note : the first temporal coordinate of the input file must be equal to 0. Otherwise, an error message will appear telling you to change it to 0.
