Quadratic generator
1 Test description
An RNA only template is used in Loads only with the Quadratic generator. The rotor RPM is set by the user, the tests checks that the generator torque corresponds to that RPM.
The following Load cases are tested:
- RPM 2
- RPM 10
- RPM 20
- K 05
2 Analytical solution
For the quadratic generator, the generator torque
$$T_G$$
is proportional to the square of the generator RPM $$\omega_G$$
, such that $$T_G = K\cdot\omega_G^2$$
. The generator RPM is equal to the rotor RPM $$\omega_R$$
multiplied by the gearbox ratio $$G$$
. We therefore have $$T_G=K\cdot(G\cdot\omega_R)^2$$
The default gearbox ratio is
$$G=97$$
The table below summarizes the input and expected output for each load case:
Load case | Rotor RPM $$\omega_R\text{ }[RPM]$$ | Proportionaility constant $$K\text{ }[ Nm\cdot \text{RPM}^{-2}]$$ | Expected geext{nerator torque $$T_G\text{ [Nm]}$$ |
RPM 2 | 2 | 0.03128 | 1180 |
RPM 10 | 10 | 0.03128 | 29400 |
RPM 20 | 20 | 0.03128 | 117000 |
K 05 | 10 | 0.5 | 470000 |
3 Results
A simulation of 5 seconds is run. The test is considered passed if the results from Ashes are within 0.1% of the analytical solution.
