Ashes can perfom Rainflow counting on stress time series, which will give a stress histogram  of number of cycles for a given stress ranges. Based on the S-N curves (also known as Wöhler curves) selected by the user, a fatigue damage is computed for each of the stress ranges.

The Palmgren-Miner  rule is then applied to compute the total fatigue damage for the stress time series.

The stress time series will take into account the Stress Concentration Factor , either manually entered by the user or automatically computed based on  DNV-RP-C203 (2016) . The user can specify how many points along the cross section should be checked for fatigue damage.

When using the  Batch manager , it is possible to compute the total fatigue life corresponding to all the Load Cases that were run.
