# Live wave

## 1 Live controls

As with the Live wind, the Live wave option enables you to change the wave characterictics while the simulation is running. This is done by changing the values in the live controls box. Only 2D regular waves can be modelled Live.

The phase angle, shown below, cannot be changed live.

## General

### Phase angle

The phase angle given in degrees. A phase angle of 0 means that the wave surface initially has 0 elevation at the origin. A phase angle of -90 or 270 degrees means that the origin will be below the crest of the wave, while 90 degrees places it above the through.

• Default value: 0
• Unit: $°$
• Range: -360 — 360

## Live

### Height

The wave height of an Airy wave. The parameter can be changed in the 'Live controls' window, either by entering a new number or by using the up or down arrows.

The live height is not adjusted if it is unphysical (as opposed to the Regular wave that is adjusted if unphysical). Thus, the wave can be, e.g. too high, too steep, below the seabed.

Note: Live wave cannot be used in the batch. If the Live wave is active when the batch is chosen, then it will be replaced by a by a regular wave with H = 5 m, T = 10 s, and wave angle = 0 deg (i.e. not necessarily what was set in the Live wave).

• Default value: 5
• Unit: $\text{m}$
• Range: 0 — 100

### Period

The wave period of an Airy wave. The parameter can be changed in the 'Live controls' window, either by entering a new number or by using the up or down arrows.

Note: Live wave cannot be used in the batch. If the Live wave is active when the batch is chosen, then it will be replaced by a by a regular wave with H = 5 m, T = 10 s, and wave angle = 0 deg (i.e. not necessarily what was set in the Live wave).

• Default value: 10
• Unit: $\text{s}$
• Range: 0.1 — 1000
